Retail sales in Japan in May fell for the third month in a row, the government reported. The data indicate a continued decline in consumer spending. Retail sales in May fell by 1.9% in annual terms, after falling 0.9% in April, according to data of the Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Analysts had forecast a decline of 1.6%. Relative to the previous month, the volume of retail trade remained unchanged in May. In the previous month, retail sales decreased by 0.1%.
