20th anniversary of Astana

Astana will host hundreds of large-scale cultural events this summer. Famous theater groups from all over the world will arrive to congratulate Kazakhstan’s young capital with its 20th anniversary. From June 10th to 29th, the city will live in a non-stop mode. Several international festivals will be staged in the city. 

YERKIN KASENOV, HONORED WORKER OF KAZAKHSTAN

 - The ‘Samgau’ Astana International Festival will be held from June 10 to 16. The Tatar, Uzbek, Kyrgyz and Russian Theaters will take part in the festival. The Serbians will also arrive.  From June 16 to 30, the ‘Astana’ festival will be organized which is also dedicated to the anniversary. The theaters from Beijing, Poland, England, France, Germany and Russia will also arrive here.

The troupe of the Maxim Gorky Russian Drama Theater will present a special gift for guests and residents of the capital. The repertoire billboard will delight both young spectators and theater fans.

BEKBOLAT PARMANOV, CHIEF DIRECTOR, MAXIM GORKI THEATER:

 - Works based on ‘The Red Apple’ by Chingiz Aitmatov and Pushkin’s ‘Yevgeniy Onegin’ will premiere in Astana. Furthermore, we are preparing for the production.  The famous director Ionus Vaikus from the Baltics are going to come. He will stage Maxim Gorky's ‘The Last Ones.’

10 gifts from the regions will be given to Astana for its 20th anniversary. For example, the Almaty region will present a magnificent park on the left bank of the capital in a few weeks’ time. A new recreation and entertainment area is estimated at more than three billion Tenge. According to designers, the park will be universal, where residents and guests of the capital will spend their leisure time all year round.

DAUREN ALZHASAROV, PROJECT MANAGER, PARK RECONSTRUCTION:

 - The center of the park and playgrounds are ready. The park will accommodate all the attractions of the Almaty region, including the Charyn Canyon and Tanbaly Tas. The entrance arch symbolizes Zhetisu - Semirechye.

Photographs and graphics of the exhibition titled "The Heart of the country - Astana" introduce visitors to a historical chronicle of the construction of Kazakhstan’s new capital. 135 industrial enterprises, 432 construction companies and representatives of more than 70 cities have been involved in the construction of Astana. Professionals from Turkey, Italy, France and Switzerland have been involved in the project. Experts say that up to 100 facilities are rented every year. A modern city with unique architecture and style is developed in the Kazakh steppe in 10 years.

TOLEGEN ABILDA, ARCHITECT:

 - I was involved in the construction of this mayor’s office, the 45-storey building office of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the Astana circus and the water-green boulevard.

Celebrations dedicated to Astana day will be organized in the entire region in Kazakhstan. According to the Mayor’s office of Astana, more than 600 different events are expected for the Day of the Capital.
