Ankara hosted a grand celebration of the 20th anniversary of Astana. The the opening of the ‘House of Kazakhstan’ took place as part of the annual Ramadan traditional festival. Residents of Ankara viewed the applied art products and become acquainted with customs, traditions and lifestyle of Kazakhs. A festive gala concert was held for the Turkish audience by Kazakh artists. They performed Kazakh and Turkish folk and modern songs. The audiences were particularly delighted with the dance ensembles such as ‘Akku’ and ‘Dostyk sazy’ from Aktobe city.

A scientific conference was organized in honor of the holiday. Scientists, politicians and Turkish intellectuals took part in the conference. Experts highlighted the fast development of the Kazakh capital and its growing role in the world as a major dialogue platform, including conflict resolution. Participants also discussed about the growing mutually beneficial economic relations between the two states.

- Turkish experts, politicians and intellectuals noted that the destinies of the two capitals, Astana and Ankara, are similar. In this context, they also compare President Nazarbayev and Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, highlighting the similarity of leaders in an innovative spirit as well as their aspirations for development of the countries through relevant reforms. This includes modernization of economies, language reforms and the transfer of major cities.
Similar events will be held in other Turkish cities like Şanlıurfa, Kahramanmaraş and Мalatya as part of the celebration of the Kazakh capital’s anniversary.
