Astana Economic Forum has kicked off in a new format

Astana Economic Forum has kicked off in a new format. This year, the event is a lot more interactive and a lot more engaging for the participants. Sessions feature discussions and speeches by well-known economists, political experts and scientists. The forum participants can ask questions and get involved in discussions aimed at finding solutions to global challenges.

SALTANAT RAKHIMBEKOVA, DEPUTY HEAD, INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR GREEN TECHNOLOGIES AND INVESTMENT PROJECTS:

 - This year’s format includes TedX. As part of the new format, the audience is involved in the discussions. The new format also includes presentations of good ideas and projects, which are also discussed with the audience who adopt or reject them.

The participants of the 2018 Global Challenges Summit will discuss eleven global challenges of the modern age during the three days of the forum. Experts are focusing on smart cities, robotics, clean energy, resources and future finance. The latter topic is especially important amid the high global interest to cryptocurrencies. ‘What are the prospects of digital money in the new financial era?’ This is a question that concerns a lot of people.

SAPARBAY ZHUBAYEV, CANDIDATE OF ECONOMIC SCIENCES:

 - SDR, the currency issued by the World Bank, is the official global currency. It is considered as reserve currency in addition to five or six other digital currencies, but, unfortunately, it never proved to be the real global currency. Japan and Australia are currently introducing electronic money – bitcoins.

The forum’s main goal is to establish a large international platform for discussion of the Central Asian regional economic development and the common global trends. Participants say that the topics selected for the AEF are so timely that by the end of the summit breakthrough solutions may be expected in many areas.
